Marine Veteran Evan Munsing Launches Campaign for CO-08

- Today, Evan Munsing, a Marine veteran, business leader, and nonprofit leader, announced his campaign for Congress as a Democrat running in Colorado’s Eighth District to defeat Congressman Gabe Evans.
In his launch video release this morning, Evan talks about how it’s time to shake up business as usual in Washington:
“I’m running for Congress because we deserve leaders who serve the nation, not themselves. Congress shouldn’t be a place to get rich, and it shouldn’t be a retirement home: it should be a place where hard work gets done and tough decisions get made.
I fought for this country, now I’m ready to fight again, because I know that the same career politicians who got us into this mess are not going to be the ones to get us out of it. To build the America we deserve, we need leaders with the grit and discipline to fight corruption and protect our way of life—to strengthen our nation, stabilize the economy, and eliminate the roadblocks and abuse that make real people's lives harder.”
Evan’s story is one of service and accountability. A Marine infantry officer, Evan deployed twice, including to Afghanistan. Today, he serves our communities as a business leader who builds and supports small businesses, and as a nonprofit leader who delivers health services to veterans and first responders. Now, he's stepping up to fight corruption, protect individual freedoms, and fix a broken system that serves insiders instead of the people.
Gabe Evans said he would be different, but in just six months, he has become a part of the problem. Evan is running to win the Democratic nomination because it's business as usual in Washington: politicians are focused on serving themselves rather than the country.
As a member of Congress, Evan would fight to ban stock trading among members of Congress and enact term limits and age limits. So politicians work for us, not for themselves.
